Softway team presentation

“We support each other at all times, which is a key strength of Softway AG. Without this strong cohesion, Softway AG would be just another IT company.”

1. When did you start working at Softway AG & how did you come to Softway AG?

My connection to Softway AG began during my studies at Coburg University of Applied Sciences, where I wrote my bachelor’s thesis in 2017. My lecturer at the time, Karl Esau, a former employee of Softway AG, introduced me to the world of SAP and gave me the option of writing my bachelor’s thesis at Softway AG. Through him, I also got to know my employer Softway AG and thus entered the SAP environment professionally.

In 2019, I found my way back to Softway AG when I met Frank Engert (project manager at the time) and he invited me for a coffee. This happened after a chance meeting with Andreas Adam at Rewe while shopping. After an extensive conversation about various topics, I was given the opportunity to start as an SAP developer at Softway AG.

I have been working as a project manager and developer at Softway AG since 2021.

2. Which training path did you take?

I completed an apprenticeship as an IT specialist from 2010 to 2013. I then successfully completed my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Coburg University of Applied Sciences from 2013 to 2017.

3. What do I need to bring with me if I want to work as an IT specialist in application development?

To be successful as an IT specialist in application development, various key skills are essential. These include logical and analytical thinking to solve complex problems and develop solutions. It is also important to have an understanding of the requirements and challenges faced by non-developers. A solid technical understanding is fundamental in this field anyway

In addition, an understanding of the relationship between mathematics and computer science is crucial, as these disciplines are closely linked and form the basis for many concepts in software development.

4. This or that?

5. What fascinates you about your job?

What fascinates me about my job is the versatility and variety it offers. No two days are the same and I appreciate the opportunity to constantly face new challenges. The varied tasks allow me to continuously learn and develop. As a project manager, I particularly appreciate the opportunity to not only be active in development, but also to contribute my organizational and communication skills.

The combination of technical challenges and the opportunity to manage employees and successfully implement projects makes my job particularly exciting for me.

6. Let’s travel back in time: What did you always want to be when you were younger?

I always wanted to do something in the technical field. Even as a child, I enjoyed tinkering with our first PC, which sparked my interest in technology. In addition to the IT apprenticeship, I also had the option of training as a mechatronics engineer. Fortunately, I was ultimately chosen to train as an IT specialist, which turned out to be the right decision for me.

7. What does a typical working day look like for you? What tasks are you responsible for?

A typical working day for me starts with checking incoming messages and emails. I then plan my working day as far in advance as possible. However, as a project manager and executive, I am always available to discuss project issues or internal management topics. This often results in a new prioritization of upcoming tasks for the day or the week.

Various customer meetings are held throughout the day to coordinate the course of the project. There are also internal coordination meetings to drive forward innovations, rethink current processes and ensure and evaluate the long-term planning of our projects.
Finally, I am also regularly involved in customer developments, which allows me to get back to my roots and program myself. This varied mix of strategic planning, customer interaction and practical development makes my day-to-day work very diverse.

8. How do you deal with a stressful day at work? What helps you relax after work?

After a stressful day at work, I often find relaxation through sport or exercise in the fresh air. This helps me to clear my head and reduce stress. I also find it relaxing to meet up with friends and spend time with them. Sometimes I just enjoy spending a quiet evening on the couch to switch off and recharge my batteries.

9. How would you describe the work & the team at Softway AG? What characterizes Softway AG?

The work and the team at Softway AG are simply great. It’s incredibly fun to be part of this team. Colleagues have become friends here, one of them is even my best man. This close bond characterizes our team. We support each other at all times, which is a key strength of Softway AG. Without this strong team spirit, Softway AG would be just another IT company.

10. We would also like to know more about you in your private life. What do you particularly enjoy doing in your free time? Do you have any “special” hobbies?

In my free time, I particularly enjoy being active in sport. I have been a passionate handball player for 25 years. This allows me to leave the office routine behind me and concentrate fully on team sports. We have also been regularly involved in ballroom dancing for 5 years.
