Training as an IT specialist in application development – today we are introducing our trainee Ricardo.
My name is Ricardo, I’m 17 years old and I come from a village near Schweinfurt. In my free time, I like to do activities with my friends, play video games and, when the weather is good, I’m often out and about on my bike, inline skates or motorcycle.
I graduated from secondary school in 2021 and initially decided to continue my education at a technical college. However, I quickly realized that I had had enough of school life and wanted to start my career in a practical working environment.
I had little contact with the field of a developer up to this point, I only had a rough idea. I became aware of this professional field through my passion for video games. I wanted to understand how it is possible to implement such things on the PC. When I looked at the stands at the training fair in Bamberg, I became aware of Softway AG. After a brief interview and a subsequent internship, I knew that I wanted to become an IT specialist.
A typical working day usually begins with a morning meeting in which each employee describes what is on the agenda for the day. I am then flexible in terms of the timing of my tasks and activities. Independence is therefore very important in my day-to-day work.
In general, everyone has strengths and weaknesses, but good logical thinking is an advantage in the field of application development. You should also be motivated and have a thirst for knowledge. Beyond that, there are no specific requirements.
In general, however, I have to say that the old cliché of the “computer geek” sitting in the dark basement is no longer true and certainly doesn’t apply to us.
That is still difficult for me to answer at the moment, as I am only at the beginning of my professional life. So far, I’ve only been able to gain insights into other companies through internships and individual open days.
But the first thing I noticed at Softway AG was the positive working atmosphere throughout the company. You don’t just feel like “the trainee”, you feel like part of the team. If you have questions or problems, you are not left alone, but can turn to anyone. The flexible working hours are also worth mentioning, so you can decide for yourself whether you want to come to work early in the morning or stay in bed for another 15 minutes.
