Safer Internet Day 2023

When have you recently set out to read an exciting article from a specialist magazine only to find yourself back at your smartphone?

After all, they offer – among countless other possibilities – fast-paced short videos, quickly accessible information from all over the world and the opportunity to easily get in touch with other people. In short, digital media offer almost everything that people need.

But up to what point is media use still okay and at what point should we set ourselves limits to avoid falling into the digital stress trap?

Today’s “Safer Internet Day” deals with this and other questions about the media usage behavior of people of all age groups.

In Europe, the EU initiative klicksafe in particular is drawing attention to the theme day. The initiative aims to promote people’s online skills and support them in using the internet and digital media competently and critically with a wide range of services.

We at Softway AG would also like to use the day to actively encourage you to question your personal media behavior. Do you suffer from digital stress?

The next time you catch yourself reaching for your phone rather than concentrating on a task, a simple action can help you to avoid being distracted so easily in future. To do this, place your smartphone out of your field of vision on a table or another storage option. By simply moving the device “out of the way”, your brain no longer has to subconsciously try to suppress the thought of reaching for your cell phone and you can concentrate on the task at hand.
