1. When did you start working at Softway AG & how did you come to Softway AG?

I’ve been with Softway since March 2010. At that time, I was looking for a retraining position and came across Softway AG.

2. Which training path did you take?

I first completed an apprenticeship as an information electronics technician, which I really enjoyed. At that time, however, I couldn’t be taken on as all the positions were already filled. As a result, I accidentally “slipped” into the catering industry for a couple of years. I also really enjoyed this work and was able to learn a lot, especially when it came to dealing with people. To be honest, however, I quickly realized that I wouldn’t be doing this for the rest of my life and decided to retrain as an IT specialist in the field of system integration. One thing I can say for sure is that I don’t regret any of the steps I’ve taken so far, because they brought me “here” to Softway. 😊

3. What do I need to bring with me if I want to work as a system administrator?

You should definitely have an interest in technical topics. In addition, a certain curiosity does not hurt. You also need to have completed vocational training in this field. I also value team spirit and technical expertise in Windows and/or Linux environments should be a matter of course.

5. What fascinates you about your job?

No two days are the same. It never gets boring and there are always new things to discover.

6. Let’s travel back in time: What did you always want to be when you were younger?

I always wanted to have something to do with crafts and technology, but I never had a specific profession in mind. In the end, you could say that I’ve always come into contact with both subjects in all the jobs I’ve had so far. Of course, you might ask what I had to do with technology in the restaurant industry. That’s easy to answer, because I also took care of the cash register system, the electronic payment system and the printing (today we would say output management 😊) and PC areas.

7. What does a typical working day look like for you? What tasks are you responsible for?

There is not really a typical working day. However, there are of course recurring tasks, such as checking/viewing log files and backups, user support, research tasks, system updates, new software installations, hardware and software orders and much more…

8. How do you deal with a stressful day at work? What helps you relax after work?

On stressful days, I try to prioritize the issues that arise and then work through them one by one or delegate them. Sometimes problems solve themselves – it’s hard to believe, but it really does happen. To relax after work, I simply get away from the PC, meet up with friends or just watch a series or a movie.

9. How would you describe the work & the team at Softway AG? What characterizes Softway AG?

Softway AG is a young and helpful team. They are simply great colleagues who always have an open ear, no matter where the shoe pinches. During my long time at the company, there have been one or two “legendary” celebrations that I still remember with great pleasure.

10. We would also like to know more about you in your private life. What do you particularly enjoy doing in your free time? Do you have any “special” hobbies?

I don’t have any special hobbies. “I used to love riding my motorcycle, and I still have one today. Unfortunately, I haven’t really ridden one for years, but I can’t really say why. Perhaps the fact that I ride my “light motorcycle” a lot in the summer also plays a role here and at least gives me a bit of a two-wheeled feeling.
Otherwise, I just like meeting up with friends and we always come up with some “nonsense”. 😊
