Introducing our apprentice Sebastian

1. Hello Sebastian, please introduce yourself!

Of course! My name is Sebastian, I’m 21 years old and I come from a village near Forchheim. In my free time, I like to hang out with my friends, play video games or ride my bike around the area (laughs). I’ve also recently discovered basketball and occasionally shoot a few hoops.

2. Why did you decide to train as an IT specialist specializing in system integration?

To be honest, I didn’t really have the profession of IT specialist on my radar after completing my A-levels. Originally, I wanted to become a brewer and support the brewing culture in beautiful Franconia. So I first started an apprenticeship in a brewery. However, I quickly realized that this profession didn’t really suit me. That’s why I then tried studying Applied Chemistry at the Technical University of Nuremberg. Well – that didn’t really fit either (laughs).

What I have always enjoyed, on the other hand: Tinkering with PC systems for leisure with friends. For some online games, it makes more sense to run your own server to avoid extra costs – and as I was interested in this anyway, I built it myself.

As I always had something to do with IT, I specifically looked around for training opportunities in this field. I found the system integrator particularly exciting, as this specialist area covers something from every other IT area. This was followed by traditional research, during which I finally came across Softway AG. After an internship with Kevin and Andreas, it quickly became clear to me: this is where I want to start!

3. How would you describe your day-to-day work? What are your tasks at Softway AG?

My day starts with looking through tickets to see if my colleagues need my support. I also do a lot of research into various software solutions and how they can be used in our company. Installing and configuring these systems is also an important part of my job. A certain degree of independence and a sense of responsibility are definitely required for these tasks.

4. To whom would you recommend this training?

I would recommend training as an IT specialist specializing in system integration above all to people who are not afraid of change and new technologies. You should also have a thirst for knowledge and enjoy familiarizing yourself with new and unfamiliar topics. Ideally, you should also be able to work independently and have logical skills. Well – and somehow you should be interested in the whole subject of computer science (laughs).
